1. Introduction to Hypnotherapy

Covers a wide variety of trance inductions, such as permissive, confusional, and direct methods. You will learn how to induce trance in the most appropriate way for each individual client, how to overcome client resistance and how to deal with abreactions. Ego strengthening is an important aspect of this module, in addition to methods for teaching your client effective techniques of self hypnosis.

This highly practical day will provide you with all the skills and confidence you need to induce hypnosis in a wide range of clients and situations, whether in the emergency room, for relaxation training, for teaching effective pain management or to counteract anxiety.

2. Advanced Hypnotherapy

This two-day module will teach you how to incorporate Ericksonian language patterns, use metaphors, deepen existing trance states and plan your hypnosis sessions. We also cover NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) here, providing you with valuable tools to enable clients to anchor positive emotional states and set effective and attainable goals. We will also look at paediatric hypnosis, an incredibly useful tool for all kinds of childhood issues, such as bed wetting, needle phobia, sleep disturbance and anxiety.

3. Medical Hypnosis

Our final two-day module will cover pain management, guided imagery and Psychoneuroimmunology, skin disorders and Irritable Bowel syndrome, all conditions where hypnosis can be incredibly effective alongside existing medical treatments. We will deal with the devastating effects of minor psychological illness, both to the individual, the economy and the health services. Conditions such as anxiety, phobias, panic and depression all respond well to appropriate hypnotic techniques.

Assessment

We do not set an exam for the fast track course, you will be assessed on practical work and a short series of quesitons after each module.  If you intend to study further for the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma you will be encouraged to begin working on your portfolio too.

Course Outcome

On successful completion of the course, you will receive your Hypnotherapy Practitioner Certificate allowing you to work as a fully qualified hypnotherapist.

Admission Criteria

This course is open to applicants with a suitable knowledge base, usually from the following disciplines: psychology, psychotherapy, medicine, counselling, nursing and midwifery, social care, occupational health, although we can consider other relevant backgrounds. For example, those students who are already working on a one-to-one basis in a therapeutic setting may qualify.
